Our Story

One fine morning, our family ventured into Tirthan Valley for a day trip, armed with a guide and a picnic basket. The Himalayas, our old friends, greeted us. When our driver paused for trout fishing details, we stepped out of the car, and our hearts never returned.

In retrospect, it feels surreal. We were typical city dwellers, focused on our daily jobs and making ends meet. In no time, The Forest Edge emerged—a boutique stay at the forest's edge, a haven for kindred spirits to meet, chat, or contemplate.

Constructed in traditional Himachali fashion, The Forest Edge blends timeless charm with modern amenities. Our mud-plastered rooms exude village ambiance, while well-appointed washrooms ensure comfort. And of course they had to be themed around our favourite books! The in house restaurant Once Upon a Diner, serves both traditional Himachali delights like Siddu and good old Dilli Waaley choley bhaturey and butter chicken.

Our dream was to create a boutique stay for friends, and it's evolved into much more. For neighbouring village children, it's a place to read, create art, and just be. For travellers, it is a place that helps them heal, rediscover self and connect with nature. Join us, become a part of this dream, and stay with us.
Who We
Are ...

Ajay Singh worked in the corporate sector for more than two decades before calling it quits in favour of being in the valley. It was a mad leap of faith to shift from the cut throat world of the private sector to a world where time strolls past while stopping to smell the roses. And he is glad he took the jump.

Tanu Shree Singh is a Professor in Psychology, Writer, story-teller and a librarian. Her favourite thing to do is to catch hold of unsuspecting kids and spring books on them. Mountains are her weakness and she can often be found in the gazebo either tapping away at her keyboard, buried between pages of a book or reading books to children.
